As I sat and watched the sun had gone down
Into a world of darkness I was found
The deepness, loneliness, and yes not a sound
Silence, the peace of night, my refuge and prison, of both I am bound
There are questions, so many questions to torment the mind
I think and wish some answers I would find
But, alas, so simple it is not
For the answers I’m seeking shall come hard fought
The darkness, oh darkness, my good friend indeed
The friend always there, never to heed
To fickle feelings, pain, loneliness,
And yes, to need
So I shall curse the darkness
While hugging it close
For of all things
It has shared my tears the most
Here’s to you my friend darkness
For all you have done
Here’s to you my friend darkness
I feel not quite so dumb
I shall bask in your softness
Please rock me to sleep
Please my friend darkness
Grant me my peace
